Please help me with my social skills?
Here’s a long story. In 6th grade I was friends with everyone, extremely social. Very social with girls, huge self confidence. In 7th grade, It was the same thing. For no reason, some of my friends were being cruel to me. Steven and Dan (dan was always an a-hole) would exclude me, and just be very mean to me. It got to a point where I cursed them out, called steve fat, and sent them an EXTREMELY mean voice mail. I felt horrible, crying the whole day since I knew from that point I ruined my friendship with them. I started losing all of my friends since they all turned against me after them telling everyone how mean I was. My BEST FRIEND of all time, Collin, (he told me if a fat person was mean to say they were fat) turned against me FOR calling Steve/ Dan fat. So I lost all of my friends, and became very upset. Soon my parents got divorced and I lost ALL of my friends. In August I became friends with Collin again, but I haven’t talked to him since (It is now february) I was very social in 6th and 7th, but losing all of my friends and having my parents divorced made me lose all of my self confidence. I fell into a depression. I made some new friends in 8th grade, but they are all nerds and shy. My old friends were social, fun, and cool. They also were outgoing–more than me. I could easily pick up girls and have girlfriends. However, I haven’t had a girlfriend since the end of 7th grade. I am very shy now, have shy friends, and have no self confidence around girls anymore. All I want is to re-be friends with my old friends. I’m trying so hard, but If I do i’d feel guilty to my new friends for leaving them. I just don’t know what to do. I want to be with my old friends, and get girlfriends again. That makes me happy! I like talking to friends. I am so bored now in school since my friends are shy–they don’t talk!!! And I can’t talk to my old friends… I just don’t have the guts to go up and say hi. It is also another thing that Absolutely NONE of ANY of my friends are in ANY of my classes, I’m with 9th or 7th graders in 60-90% of my classes…. no 8th graders. There is this very hot girl Ashley, in 7th grade I gave her a piggy-back ride. Now, I can barely talk to her. So I am seeking help. How do I get my old friends back? Should I get my old friends back? What about my new friends? How do I become social again? How do I gain self-confidence? Should I go to a psychiatrist? Is it because of my parents divorce that I have these issues? Thank you so much for whoever answers.
I’m 14, though at 12 and 13 I was so social. I feel so anti-social and awkward now. I’m not smooth anymore
Lol its not about the girl it was just an example. I just want friends to talk to… I hate shy friends they don’t talk at all its just talking to a brick wall.
"and thought of urself too highly that they decided u thought u were better than them"
That is 100% correct, I see it now. I used to be that. I am not now, So how should I show them now, how do I get accepted back? and switching schools wouldnt be good it would just be avoiding the problem. I need to face it

Tell us how old you are. It makes a difference to the kind of help you need.
GreatBigBore | Feb 08, 2010

there are never endings just new beginings said by someone i dont take the credit but you have to understand its high shcool or what ever your in. Schools are made for this very reason, to practice social skills so you can be accepted into society. when you become an adult youll understand, but life will usally play its self out. to me it sounded like your old friends were lame, and your new friends are what you have now but.. just because you get new friends dont mean you have to ditch you old ones. just do what you do join clubs, sport teams and gain friends from there. good luck kid youll get that girl too if you keep trying stay real
ryo | Feb 08, 2010

go 2 ur counselor and tell them that you want to switch schools also ur parents. Remember, you cnt take ppls sht talking too seriously as that age group usually thrives off putting ppl down to feel good about themselves. Maybe it has something to do with the way u carry urself also. Maybe you were very arrogant and thought of urself too highly that they decided u thought u were better than them, IDK. step back n have a moment w/ urself n be real (please, don’t have a biased opinion about urself). think about what got u to this situation and what you did to put urself there. Don’t try and be good enough for them, be good enough for urself. personally, i tell my lil bro that he should never be a bully as me n my friends get our ya-yas out of beating them down.
AAAndr33s | Feb 08, 2010

Ok, so I’m gonna start by saying I’m sorry about your parents. thats a very tough thing to go through. My parents divorced when i was 8. I think you are in 8th grade? and I know you won’t believe me but being a social butterfly is not whats important in life. I know it seems like it, but trust me you will get so much out of your friendships with your "nerdy" friends. them being shy, you’ll just have to work with them they’ll have to warm up to you eventually. Unfortunately it looks like you burned your bridges with your old friends. Calling people fat, cussing them out and leaving mean messages is a horrible way to handle things and deal with your anger. even if they were mean to you and "deserved" it, you sunk to their level and it should have been handled differently. I would have suggested to simply apologize for what you said and did and hope that you could still be friends. I actually still recommend this, just don’t expect to be friends it seems like too much time has gone by. But then there won’t be hard feelings and it won’t be awkward between yall. If it does turn out ok and you do start hanging out with them don’t forget your new friends just cause theyre nerdy and not cool enough. it doesn’t have to be either or it can still be both. I actually did this when in high school. I stopped being friends with people cause i was making friends with cooler people when in fact the nerdy kids were the nicest caring people and friends i had ever met and i messed up my chance of having a friendship with them. thats why i say being social and cool isn’t everything. You’ll learn this soon enough and hopefully youre learning it with this situation.
It seems like your school goes to 9th grade then high school is 10-12? so usually theres a merge there and new people are introduced. I don’t know where you live or how big your population is so hopefully that happens then you’ll have a bunch of new chances to make more friends and start your rep over. as far as the very hot ashley chick, if she allowed you to give her a piggy back shes probably somewhat into you. talk to her be nice, be your self.most of all treat her like the world and never EVER take any girlfriend you have for granite. a psychiatrist might be a good idea to help you through your parents divorce. Youre at a very difficult time in your life but trust me everyone gets through it and make the most out of it. most of all look at the positive, look at what you do have not what you lost. your still that person inside youre just letting the negative cover it up. good luck with everything and i hope this novel helps in some way.

A question about gay intimacy?
Im not allowed to put this in any kind of sexually explicit way, so Ill just put it like this: do men always enjoy it in THAT SPOT just like a woman can…you know, how women can be intimate in a spot that they usually use for OTHER purposes? I ask because a friend of mine thinks nobody really likes it in THAT spot and they just pretend in the movies that they do….because they get paid for it (wink wink). So is it true that both women and men enjoy it in THAT spot equally or can learn to enjoy it in THAT spot? If men do and women do, doesnt that mean that it is the one SPOT in the body where both women and men can share the same feeling of pleasure?

Oh goodness gracious, people, can we grow up?

It reminds me of that Scrubs episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci-LX9fd0 64

Yes, men and women can both enjoy receiving anal sex. There are many nerve endings, particularly in the anus (the opening and first few inches), rather than the rectum (any deeper). These nerve endings often feel good to be stimulated and touched. What’s more, men actually have a prostate gland, which, when stimulated, can in fact result in the most intense orgasm possible for him to experience (orgasm via prostate stimulation is typically referred to as "milking the prostate", and it is not only quite pleasurable, but also healthy, flushing out toxins from the body). Women do not have a prostate gland, although it is possible to put some subtle, indirect pressure on her G-spot through anal sex, but not enough pressure or stimulation to be overly pleasurable or result in orgasm in most women.

So to answer your question- both men and women can receive and enjoy anal sex, but once again, differences in anatomy mean that they cannot share the exact same feelings of pleasure.

Hope that helps!

Gwennie B | Nov 30, 2009

Yes, I know straight guys who like feeling something in that spot as well as gay men.
Steve | Nov 30, 2009

well, i dont have direct experience, but the anus is ripe with pleasure nerves, particularly since were male, we have a prostate, which is like our "g-spot"
Questionator | Nov 30, 2009

THAT "SPOT" is an exit only. I have a question too…. Does it come out of that SPOT with crap on it?
Rachel | Nov 30, 2009

yeah I do not know what spot you are talking about….I am leaning towards butt sex since that is a place that both men and women have in common, and if that is what you are talking about than it is not the same for guys and girls. and both normally learn to like it there. it is kinda weird at first.

I am sorry if I got the wrong spot.
Huskul | Nov 30, 2009

Okay, yes its a touchy subject. THAT SPOT is the usually spot that gay men (and sometimes lesbians) seem to obsess over. However, as you pointed out, plenty of heterosexuals enjoy it too. Men, however, enjoy it much much more and here is why. The male sexual anatomy includes the prostate, which often causes dire problems later in life, but its possible to stimulate the prostate via…."that spot"…producing a fantastic feeling of pleasure, ergo why it has become so popular. But many gay couples are content to not have sex that way and if that works for them, great. Its all about preference and being comfortable.
Aeren | Nov 30, 2009

Actually yes, you are correct. In a man’s THAT spot, he has something that is the same exact thing as a woman’s THAT spot. He recieves the same amount of pleasure as a woman when it is stimulated, but does not orgasm.

Edit
I mean orgasm in the same way a woman does.

I know i need accent marks on a lot of them. but I was just wondering if I got an gender wrong or grammar errors. Thanks
my friend is a girl so do i still but lui?

I think it should be "Je suis alle(e) a Disneyland avec lui."

*Mon amie. You can’t have two vowels next to each other.

I think there’s something wrong with the way you conjugated "prendre" but I’m not sure. I’ll edit in a minute.

EDIT: It should be "nous avons pris".

I think. That one I’m actually not too sure on.

Maybe I helped a little? :D

Plus tard, nous avons vu un defile avec d’autres fans de Disney. Enfin, j’ai chanter joyeux anniversaire a mon amie. Pour son anniversaire, j’ai acheter une bouteille de lotion de Bath and Body Works (maybe a french product store like "L’Occitane" might sound more authentic). Elle a aimer son cadeau. Nous avons passer un bon moment a Disneyland.

This is how it should be, i edited all gender errors and most gramatical mistakes. I also changed a few words like "present" to "cadeau". Also edited a couple punctuation errors. This is good though. On your way to an A+ ;)
Answerwizz | Feb 02, 2010

"Lui" means both "for/to him"and "for/to her" and works for both sexes in that instance , but you are correct, and after "avec" it is "lui" for the masculine, and "elle" for the feminine: "avec lui" . "avec elle"

Answerwizz may be bi-lingual but his written French is far from perfect.
"s’appelle" is mispelt . His use of the past tense is incorrect and all the accents are missing. Here is a corrected version:

State of Play (2009)

IMDB rating: 7.70

Plot: This is a movie version of the original TV serial. The action takes place in Washington D.C. Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck), a US congressman accidentally dies near a subway station. At the same time a woman gets shot. These seemingly unrelated events are just the upper part of a huge iceberg of political intrigues that two Washington Globe journalists are going to discover. One of them, Cal McCaffrey (Russell Crowe), sticks to old-school methods: he digs for the info through the police and other personal connections. The other one, Della Frye (Rachel McAdams), is an active Internet user. While working on the story together, they both realize that they got involved into a dangerous and complicated play.

Why is Obama playing games trying to embarrass Republicans, rather than getting his party to reform laws?
so that he and his party can get as much of what they promised last election campaign done?

I personally wonder if Obama really wants all the changing that he was saying he wanted when he was a candidate…same for his party.

And what about this Republican senator holding up 70 nominations until his state gets $50 million dollars of pork? that places needs to be fumigated for the SCmbags

Maybe because Obama and the Democrats have been unable to pass the reform laws they wanted, mainly do to Republicans playing games which embarrassed them. The Democrats are just fighting fire with fire.

I personally am glad of the Obama administration’s change in rhetoric. Liberals don’t have nearly as extensive of a propaganda machine in the media as conservatives do. Barack Obama doesn’t have anyone comparable to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and other conservative personalities to fight his fights for him, like the Republicans do. Politics is as much a game of controlling public opinion as ever before, and I’m glad that the Obama administration is not going to sit back and allow conservative propagandists to run unopposed in the public eye.
Chewy Ivan 2 | Feb 09, 2010

oh, is that what he’s doing?! you people are f-ing amazing, when will you just admit that he’s actually trying to get things done, and republicans are just power fighting.

He is trying to bring in the change to the US healthcare system that America deserves. The GOP spread lies and half truths and are aware that they should not debate him as they will be blown away by the real facts.

FACT – Insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should [a]
FACT – PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [b]
FACT – Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [c]
FACT – the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [d]
FACT – Obama was elected to bring in change [e]
FACT – Obama wants to stop insurance companies screwing the American people [f]
FACT – The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and in Switzerland [g]

If anyone can prove the facts above are wrong, e-mail me and let me know.

I don’t think Obama is playing games. I think he is trying to break the partisan gridlock by bringing this problem out into the open.

I agree that until LAWS (that we common people have to obey) change we can expect …

Your points speak for themselves the way I see them; these lawyers/attorneys at every level of power who make laws we have to obey (even if meaning draining our bank accounts), love these ‘fights’ ‘arguments’ & ‘litigations’ making people think they are really fighting for something.

They learned this in law school and love to do it. It’s a deception!

I’ve seen this so many times I could laugh out loud, that is until I think of the consequences of what they are not doing and what they are doing.

Very great concern for some balance in ‘justice’ (which it isn’t) that helps both common people and those that are not.

The Republican Party is playing politics with Middle Eastern terrorists.
Rooker | Feb 09, 2010

I think the Reps are in line to embarrass themselves if they keep it up, little by little the extent to which they are gumming up the works is becoming known and they look like cranky old men.
Know what? The country voted for Obama and his change, overwhelmingly.
The people want to see his promises become reality, that he hasn’t done enough to make it clear to congress that we want those things, without obstruction, is to his fault.
If the Republicans filibuster every bill, every nomination, then perhaps its time the so-called liberal media actually acts like a real journalistic effort and reports what they are doing, instead of wasting time on who is in whose pants.
justagrandma | Feb 09, 2010

Obama doesn’t have to do anything to embarrass the Republicans, they are doing a fantastic job all on their own. The more ludicrous and hypocritical they appear to be, the less credibility they have with the American people. Situations which should be an embarrassment to the GOP, such as Sarah’s crib notes in an impromptu Q&A while admonishing the President for using a teleprompter during his speeches (as opposed to sheets of paper that many use while speaking), or when they are caught lying or cheating, it seems not to bother them. It is growing apparent that the GOP has no concept of embarrassment.

The radicalised children of the Nazi generation lead by Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof and Gudrun Ensslin are fighting a violent war against what they perceive as the new face of fascism: American imperialism supported by the German establishment, many of whom have a Nazi past. Their aim is to create a more human society but by employing inhuman means they not only spread terror and bloodshed, they also lose their own humanity. The man who understands them is also their hunter: the head of the German police force Horst Herold. And while he succeeds in his relentless pursuit of the young terrorists, he knows he’s only dealing with the tip of the iceberg.

Why does the color of my computer screen's resolution keep messing up?
A little while ago, I was surfing the net on the usual websites I have been on for a long time (Facebook, YouTube, etc.) and listening to iTunes, and all of a sudden, the computer’s screen resolution got this funky greenish blue tint to it. It switched back to normal on its own after about a minute or so, but it keeps switching back and forth. Can anyone tell me what this is and how to fix it? Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like you are losing one of the colors that is piped into your display from the video card. In this case probably red. That will leave only blue and green left to make up the picture. Check both ends of your VGA cable, make sure they are screwed into the video card and monitor. Try to jiggle the cord near the ends too. The cord could be going bad–maybe it has a partially broken wire inside.

It could also be the inside electronics to the monitor. If you have another one to swap out real quick you can eliminate it as a suspect.

Hopefully it’s just the cable. Easy fix

Kenny
Kenny (2006)

IMDB rating: 7.50

Plot: From the biggest festival to the smallest church social, Kenny Smyth delivers porta-loos to them all. Ignored and unappreciated, he is one of the cogs in society’s machinery; a knight in shining overalls taking care of business with his faithful ‘Splashdown’ crew. Follow Kenny as he tackles every septic challenge that comes his way, culminating in a pilgrimage to that Mecca of waste management, the International Pumper and Cleaner Expo in Nashville Tennessee – or as Kenny affectionately calls it, “Poo HQ”. With fly-on-the-wall honesty and wit, ‘KENNY’ lifts the lid on one of Australia’s roughest diamonds as he juggles family tensions, fatherhood and sewage with charm, humour and unflinching dignity. “It takes a certain kind of person to do what I do… No-one’s ever impressed; no-one’s ever fascinated… If you’re a fireman, all the kids will want to jump on the back of the truck and follow you to a fire. There’s going to be no kids willing to do that with me. So, I don’t do it to impress people – it’s a job, it’s my trade, and I actually think I’m pretty good at it.” – Kenny Smyth Part philosopher, part comedian and all heart, KENNY is living proof that in sewage, like life, the best will always rise to the top.

Is it religiously correct for parents to apply a painful treatment?
When Alda was seven years old he contracted polio. To combat the disease, his parents administered a painful treatment regimen developed by Sister Elizabeth Kenny that consisted of applying hot woolen blankets to his limbs and stretching his muscles.[2] This allowed him to recover from most effects of the disease.

I dont really understand the question… most treatments are pretty painful, whether religiously correct or not. If that treatment helped then that’s great.
Fuddster | Feb 07, 2010

Yes, his parents loved him enough to allow him to suffer a short time for the greater good (of recovering his ability to walk).
It was not only morally/religiously correct (because they did what they were instructed to do to give him the greatest chance of recovering his natural ability), but also scientifically sound.
I contracted polio in 1959 at the age of 2 1/2. My parents had never heard of Sister Kenny’s treatment. So they morally did right by listening to the doctors practicing in my part of the USA -first giving me a spinal tap, then putting my leg in an immobile cast. But they trusted that the doctors were giving me the best treatment at the time, thus, they acted out of love and were religiously/morally correct in following the treatment they were giving me at the Children’s Country Home.
Now, of course, we know that giving a spinal tap to a suspected polio case has the potential to make the paralysis permanent, and that putting a cast on the affected limb is the worst thing you can possibly do to a recent polio victim.
But my parents were morally correct and so were Alan Alda’s parents. Fortunately, Alan Alda recovered. Perhaps I did not suffer as much at first (I don’t remember the painfull spinal tap), but my leg is still paralyzed after 50 years.
